Saturday Love

||1||
Playing disc golf with the husband. Well, I walked with Roxanne and he played disc. I'm still recovering from a random stomach sickness I got yesterday!

||2||
The #whatshouldwecallnursing tumblr. If you've ever been around patients/patient care, most of these will make you laugh! This one about clipping a patients nails made me laugh extra hard because i was asked to do it for clinicals for my CNA class and I so didn't want to. (Luckily I didn't because he was at risk of diabetes which means we can't do it!) And this one as well. SO AWFUL. Oh, and this one. God darn it, just go read them all.

Pixar story rules. A Pixar story artist tweets some advice. Some are silly, but some can actually be helpful for a writer, like "#17: No work is ever wasted. If it’s not working, let go and move on - it’ll come back around to be useful later." I think Sara will appreciate some of these!

||4||
The Bed & Breakfast Vince and I will be staying at for a couple nights in Hood River on our road trip! My father-in-law and stepmother-in-law got us the place for our wedding present and we're super excited about it. I've never stayed in one (or anyplace so fancy) so it'll be fun. How could it not, given that they serve a 3-course breakfast?!

(I don't know if this is actually the room we'll be at, but it's one of the five rooms.)

||5||
Having an Otterbox cover for my iPhone. I ordered one when Vince ordered one and it's great. I dropped my phone on the trail today and it survived!

||6||
The woods. Vince and I were talking about how we're excited to live someplace with real greenery, not Flagstaff greenery, which is all the same green and brown because we don't have a wide variety of plants here, but I will miss it!

My brother Connor! He turned 19 on Friday!

||8||
Gossip Girl. I stopped watching it during Season 3 for some reason but started it again this week on Netflix. It's so cheesy and girly and Vince sits there and comments through the ENTIRE show when I watch it and he's home, but I'm addicted!

||9||
The hostel we'll be staying at in Seattle. (Sorry, you're probably sick of me talking about my road trip!) It's an art hostel so all the rooms have the walls painted differently by local artists. AMAZING.

This interesting article about a Mormon man who is openly gay, but is married to a woman and has children.

This vlog that Patricia did. OH MY GOD, I just laughed so much.

Saturday Love

I woke up early this morning to get ready for work, had a group project I had to meet up with for math, went to work, and now I'm at home eating a quick bite before heading up to the hospital for 4 hours of volunteering. Today is a busy day, obviously! Sara reminded me that it was SATURDAY, though, and that fact completely evaded my mind which means I had no Saturday Love post planned. So here's a quick and dirty version. Hollah.
8

||1|| Stripes on my shirt! It's one of my favs.

||2|| Salty Dog caramel apples from the chocolate shop. I love salt, but I must admit this is a wee bit to salty for me. After I pick off the big chunks it's perfect!

||3|| Diabetes in tha house. Gotta love me some Squirt.

||4|| Seing my face so many times. Weirrrd.

||5|| Summer school. All the deadlines come up so fast that I have to do the work immediately. This means that I don't have all that guilt I have during the regular school year from putting off assignments for weeks at a time. A test opens up one day and we have two days to take it or it's gone, no procrastination allowed!

||6|| Having a husband who doesn't know how to use his new iPhone. Instead of clicking 'end' when he wants to hangup, he pushes the home screen button, so I still get to listen to his conversations after he 'hangs up'.

||7|| This website with portraits of family members blended together, like half their faces matched up with another half face. It's INSANE how exact some of these people are.

||8|| Green tea with citrus. So tasty.

||9|| Sarah Rooftops What Makes You Proud To Be You. This is something I may have to do for myself soon!

||10|| Chili that my husband made! He spent yesterday 'laboring' away and made some fantastic chili that I ate for breakfast, now for lunch, and probably for dinner tonight.

||11|| Lastly, working in the garden. I was helping a neighbor lady takes out a bunch of weeds from what will be our shared garden. I've gone some fine Chaco lines there!

Because somebody doesn't know how to click publish...

I thought I clicked publish yesterday, aka Saturday, but I guess I didn't.
Like whoa. A Saturday Love post? That's right, back by popular demand (of one person) I bring you Saturday Love! I've got a lot of new readers since I stopped doing it, so here's a brief overview of what it actually is: Every Saturday I post about 11 things I love, wether it be pictures, links, quotes...anything! It's pretty simple, but it's nice to be able to have an outlet that allows me to focus on what I love as well as get rid of the million bookmarks I have on my computer. Feel free to join in on your own blog and leave a link in the comments! I'll link to them in the next weeks post. (And you can read previous Saturday Love posts here, but I warn you the pictures are so awful they'll make you cringe.)

<1>

Ok, seriously, this kind of thing makes me want to cry. If I were in that subway I would be bawling! I love music like this and love flash mobs, so it's perfect.

<2>
My aunt's friend writes a mommy blog called The Diaries of a Wimpy Mom and it is SO funny. Her posts are usually super short and always make me laugh. Here's an excerpt from a recent post:

Her arms are like her arch nemesis, pestering her in her sleep until she wakes up with a blow to the face...by her own fist. I can't even imagine what that must BE like- being ATTACKED by your own body part. Poor girl.  And although I feel so bad for her, flipping and flopping like a fish out of water in her crib at night, I can't help but secretly laugh to myself about how much this whole scenario reminds me of cow tipping. It's like someone pushed her over in her sleep and left her there to moo it out until someone came to her rescue.

I almost peed my pants when I read that!! Go check the rest of her blog out.
(And sorry Patricia, I'M A MOMMY BLOG LOVER. I mean, BABIES, how can you say no?)

<3>
Volunteering at the ER. I've already learned so man things on my first night, like that fact that there are SO many people that come through in a 4 hour period on a Saturday night. I changed probably 40 beds!

<4>
1-3
My last and final CSA share! I made the BEST kale and potato salad with the potatoes I got. I have the recipe up and ready to go soon!

<5>

Yellow flowers in the front yard!

Ghetto Hikes. Funniest tumblr ever. The guy hasn't posted since February, and I've been sad about it, but if you've never seen it, go read through the archives! I just read through them again and laughed just as hard.

Is rabbits eatable? Or you just sposed to cuddle the fuck outta them?

<7>

Short hair. I came across an 'old' photo with me and my short hair last year. It's super long again and I love long hair, but not on me. I never ever wear it down and it's to the length where it gives me a headaches when it's in a ponytail. I'm going to cut it this short again in the next week!

<8>

I don't have a tumblr and rarely look at them despite the fact that I am posting three different ones here, but I love the Reasons to be Fit tumblr. I really like things like this to help get me pumped up before exercising!

<9>
No More Harvard Debt. This guy went to Harvard and graduated with about $90,000 in debt. He made a huge goal of paying it off within ten months and he did it early (granted, he makes a six figure salary). He really limited his budget, sold off his cars, and brought a flask when he went to the bars. Granted, I don't have a six figure salary, but it's oddly inspiring to read through the archives of how he achieved his goal. It makes me want to be extremely limited in what I spend my money on so that I don't have to have a lot of debt when I graduate!

Creek time with Roxi girl and my bestie!

Lastly, this.

Saturday Love: Middle School Edition

While going through some old music CD's yesterday, I found a disc labeled Transfer 1. Having no idea what it was, I popped it in my computer and OH MY GOD. Awesome things from 2005/2006 like pictures, papers I wrote for school, quotes, stories, and video. So for my Saturday Love, I am posting some pictures that I love and that prove a lot of things about who I was. I want to print them all and keep them forever!

{1} Proof that I was artistic and saw the beauty in everything:

{I doubt anyone else in the world could see the beauty in the silver plug!}

{2} Proof that I was great at cleaning:

{And yes, that is a hammock hanging from my ceiling! My dad was a pretty cool dad.}

{3} Proof that I was always a giantess who never fit in my shirts:

{4} Proof that I was always fashionable:

{5} Proof that I was always normal looking:

{Goodness, so much BLUE.}

{6} Proof that I was independent and didn't have to be with my friends all the time:

{7} Proof that I was extremely photogenic:

{8} Proof that I was athletic at one point in my life:
{9} Proof that I was always a healthy eater and that I didn't spend massive amounts of time at Bigfoot BBQ eating french fries:

{10} Proof that I was always wearing high end jewelry:

{11} Proof that....oh my...I have nothing to say about this:

And yes, that is a gallon jug lid on my necklace. My boyfriend made it for me, shut up.

Does anyone else love going through old things? I know I love going through old letters, notes and photos. Whenever I do I always laugh, but I also get an overwhelming sense of sadness. I MISS those easy days!

They felt so tough at the time and many days it felt like my life was going to be over, but looking back, they were so simple. All I worried about was my boyfriend, my friends and homework. I know when I'm older and have kids of my own, I will look back at these days and feel the same thing.

I'm sure I will also look back at my 'fashion' posts and laugh at myself and be so awesomely embarrassed, just like I am now. I can't wait to show you guys more pictures. It was hard to narrow down the 500+ pictures I found to just 11!

Saturday Love: Maternity Edition

I went clothes shopping today and somehow almost all the clothes that ended up in the dressing room with me were maternity clothes from the sales rack. And I'm not pregnant. So. Ahem. Ya.

Here's a list of why I like them, and why you should, too.

{1} The shirts are long. I mean, super long. It's wonderful! I can sit at a chair and not have my undies show!

{2} The shirts are stretchy. Everyone needs a little stretch in their day, even if it's just to allow room for expansion after eating one too many cookies. Or peanut shakes, in my case.

{3} Elastic waistline. I don't know about you, but my weight fluctuates. I am happy with my weight wherever it's at, but a lot of women aren't. How great would it be to have pants (that DON'T look like pajama pants) that fit you wether you are 5 pounds overweight or 5 pounds underweight?

{4} Extra soft fabric. It may not be true, but it really does seem as if all the fabrics are softer than normal clothes. Next time you walk by the maternity section, casually reach out your hand and touch everything. JUST DO IT.

{5} Cute shirts. Granted, you can find cute shirts in the regular section, but there are so many cute shirts in maternity. Pregnant women still want to look good, so I think the fashion companies are going overboard (in a good way) to be sure that they have options.

I'm sure if you are pregnant right now, you are thinking I'm full of crap, and that there is nothing cute out there. If so, I'm sorry! I'll enjoy your clothes for you. Hehe.

Have any of you non-pregnant people ever bought maternity? What do you think?!

Saturday Love

Oh my. Three posts in one day? I'm making a crazy comeback y'all. After today though, I promise I won't spam ya and will be back to one post a day. ;-)

I haven't done a Saturday Love in a while, though, so I figured I'd do one today! It's snowing outside and I feel like curling up on my couch with the laptop anyways.

{1}
In the beginning of July, I am going to hike the 16 miles of Half Dome in Yosemite Valley with my family and I'm FREAKING OUT. It's going to be so awesome! Don't know what it is? Click HERE to read about it and HERE to learn about the cables you have to climb up so you don't die. The reason I'm telling you this is because there is a guy who climbed the 2,000 foot vertical cliff WITH NO ROPE. He free climbed it. Watch the video HERE. I couldn't embed it, but it's so crazy to watch. It's a 2 minute clip, and I wanted to throw up the entire time because I was so nervous!

{2}
A friend told me about a Free Proctor and Gamble Brand Sample Pack! I'm getting a coupon for laundry soap, free tampons {every girl will need them at some point, plus they're free!} and some Head and Shoulders shampoo. Sweet!

{3}
{Found HERE via HERE}

{4}
{5} This post over at the Rhythm Method. She writes a wonderful post with great imagery about retiring to a little cottage on the beach  and "It will be right on the foreshore, exposed to the weather: so close to the ocean that our garden will be sprinkled in sand." Sounds wonderful with this current snow!

{6}
My brothers.

{7}
Emmy's poetry, especially the one about road kill!

{8}
The packaging for some earrings and a necklace I sold and shipped out last week from my Etsy shop.

{9}
Little Chief Honeybee's post about tattoo etiquette and NOT being a douche. Read it if you don't have tattoos!

{10}
{I REALLY really really wish I new the original person who took this picture, but I've looked for like 45 minutes for the origin and can't find it. If you know, tell me so I can give credit! I originally saw the picture through soulBACON.}

{11}
A recent episode on Grey's Anatomy WHERE THEY SING.
I cried. It was amazing. Watch it HERE.

Saturday Love: Jerome Edition

So a week ago, last Saturday, my friend Veronica and I took a little day trip down to Jerome, AZ! It's a little over an hour away, but Veronica and I talked the whole way, so time flew by!

We first went to the Jerome State Historic Park. It's at the top of a hill, and you look out over the vast area of nothingness. You could see the Peaks in the background though!

It cost $5 to get in, and was a fun little museum. I guess it used to be a guy named Douglas' house and it showcased some of the stuff that he owned, as well as other mining stuff, since Jerome is a mining town.

When we first walked in, we saw one of those machines that squashes a penny.

So for $1.02, we got ourselves 2 flattened pennies!

Then, we came upon this beautiful tea set. Can I pretty please own this?

We saw other random things throughout the house...

{{Top left to bottom right: a shelf that was in a little room, lights from the train tracks, an old soda machine {it was huge!} and a gargoyle that reminds me of the tattoo on Vince's leg}}

{One of the MANY signs that were in the hallways. What does it even mean?!}

{This was another one that was a little weird, because people may have died on that stretcher. The old crutches looked so uncomfortable!}

{There was a dark room that had lots of rocks in it that naturally glowed.}

{The bathroom was HUGE and BEAUTIFUL and BRIGHT. I wish I could have a bathroom like that, it was so darling. And the entire wall was just storage.}

{Cute little pathway and old mining carts.}

{I LOVE old buildings.}

There was a lot of other things throughout the museum, but you should just go check it out yourself!

After the museum, we drove up to the little downtown area, which is just on a couple big hills. We immediately went and ate at a restaurant called Grapes. I couldn't find a page that had their menu online, but it had things like soups, sandwiches, amazing appetizers and salads.

{EDIT: My awesome friend Ami found the link!! http://grapesjerome.com/menuscroll.html }

I called before we went and the lady who answered happened to be gluten free and said I could eat almost anything on the menu! When we got to the restaurant, she also happened to be our waitress! I was excited. There were SO many things I could eat, like almost 50 things. I've never ever had so many options, even at a dedicated gluten free place. All the sauces, even the FRIED mozzarella sticks were safe to eat! They didn't fry anything else in that oil except rice stuff. I was stoked.

I'm going to warn you now, if you ever go there, you will think about the foods for WEEKS.

{Excited for food!}

Veronica and I shared a portobella mushroom and I have talked to Vince about it everyday since then. I want him to try it so bad, I know he'd love it!

{I order a Rueben without bread, and Ver got a Swiss Melt.}

Did I enjoy my meal? Here's your answer:

{These are a couple of the stores we went to.}

The House of Joy was such a FUN store. It's an old brothel and has all sorts of pin-up memorabilia, Russia stuff, and tons of vintage trinkets. I think Melissa Misfortune would die in that store!

Veronica and I loved the Magpie simply because there's a blackbird on the sign! There was a jacket in that store that I would love to own someday.

Fool on the Hill was such an awesome shop, possibly my favorite clothing store. Everything was funky and they sold fabric there too. I bought a yard of great fabric for $3 that I can't wait to use.
Veronica got some fudge that had marshmallows in it from Copper Country Fudge. They couldn't guarantee that it would be gluten free so I didn't eat any, but it looked so freaking good!

We also went to a few of the galleries and a place that had the most amazing ceramic arts. I wanted so much of that stuff! I was nervous I was going to break something though.

All in all, it was a good day.
