Exciting few days...

These past few days have been crazy! The most exciting thing that has happened is...

...my niece Alyla was born!!

My sister Suzanne gave birth to her at 5:02am on January 4, 2011.

I'm writing a post about it, but it's super long and detailed, so it's taking me a while. It will be up soon, though!

I also found 2 great things from Bookmans:
...a beautiful yellow teapot...

...and an carved wooden owl...

Even though Bookmans s a used bookstore, they have random little knick-nacka at the ends of bookshelves. I've never actually bought a book there, just random things!

I was excited to add this teapot to my collection, as I love yellow and also I love the 'squareness' to it that my others don't have.

When I bought the owl dish, it was pretty dirty and grimy and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get it clean, but alas, I did! I'm going to use it to store all my pins on my sewing table. I have this adorable pin cushion/tape measure, but when I'm sewing I don't have the time to push pins into it.

Speaking of my craft table, I finally built it! Here's the fabric that I used for the top...

I'm going to write a post soon about how I made it for cheap.

I might let Roxi taking over blogging for a while, though, she can't seem to stay away from the computer!

  2. Me again--love the owl (I seem to have a rather large collection of them--if in doubt-give an owl has been an ongoing thing for quite awhile!)that you will use for your pins. Might want to glue a magnet in the bottom. One way to clean stuff like that is with the Resolve upholstry cleaner--just spray it on, let it set a bit then either rinse or wipe off with soft cloth or if wood--use Pledge--cleans and leaves a nice finish.
Love your teapot, reminds me of fiesta ware--Aunt Bobbi and I also collect. Mine are the older English ones like Sadler, James Kent, Addlesbury, Royal Albert, etc--like the ones my grandmother had. sometimes it is just more dust collectors but right now most of them are packed in Chip (that blasted trailer).

  3. I have some video that I'm going to edit of the birth that i can send to you! It'll take a couple weeks though. It's not something I've going to put publicly for obvious reasons, but I'm sure Suz wouldn't mind if I sent it to you!

And a magnet is a great idea! I'm starting to love owl-y things as well. I just like them to be cheap haha

I haven't heard of those brands of teapots, but I just googled them and love them! I'm probably going to order this one: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=safari&rls=en&q=Sadler+teapot&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=9044430402172022224&ei=HZomTafYA466sQPepoibBw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=image&resnum=3&ved=0CD0Q8gIwAg#

Look at that color! Ahh, I love it. I love all the styles of the other brands as well, they are beautiful! You need to get those baby's out of storage and look at them! I guess after a while they aren't 'as fun' to look at...

    <3 you!
