I'm still working on the rest of the road trip posts, but here's a quick post about what's on my mind.
I've been so sentimental about life changing recently, and today when I dropped off the 2nd grader I babysit for her first day of school, I wanted to cry and I'm not even her mom! (No, I'm not pregnant.) I remember when she was just a baby and it's crazy to think how fast time has flown.
Walking through the halls of her school made me think of my first days of school growing up and how much I still love them. Granted, my hallways don't smell as bad and there aren't as many screaming kids, but it's still exciting. Even in college I get antsy about picking out my first day of school outfits and getting my backpack ready! The thrill of it all flies out the window fairly quickly as the reality sets in that I have 100 pages of a biology book to read it two days, but fortunately everything will start over the next semester!
School starts for me in two weeks and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's been so nice to not have to do anything after work and to be able to do things at my own pace, but I'm also ready to use my brain again and have a set routine down. I am a little nervous about the classes I'm taking (Pre-Cal, Anatomy & Physiology, Bio II, and Intro to Philosophy) because three of them require a lot of attention, but I'm also confident that I can excel at them if I just get my routine down.
What are some ways you get yourself in a routine? Any tips? I felt pretty good about my routine last semster, but it can always be improved upon!
I don't know if this really counts as getting into a routine, but I always checked my syllabuses each day and made a list of things to accomplish that day for my classes. That always seemed to help me stay on track.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I typically check my syllabus but don't make a list so I frequently have to keep going back to it wasting time.
DeleteUgh, I know exactly how you feel. My cousin's oldest just started kindergarten this morning and I was there the day she was born so it's CRAZY to me! I feel like she was just born a year or two ago. =[
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of weird about routines, but I always have it written down. Mondays I do this, this, this and this. Tuesdays I do this, this... it helps me so much. But I also allow flexibility so I don't freak out if my routine is disrupted. =]
I need to start planning my weeks out, instead of just my days! And flexibility is key, or I'd also freak out! haha
DeleteI will be the wrong person to write about routines - I don't have any. I always want something new, something different.. I write everything down, wanting to stick to it, but never do.. Maybe you can give some advice to me? :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I love your honeymoon pictures!
If I figure out some great ideas, I'll be sure to give you advice! And thanks! I plan on posting the rest of the pictures soon!!
