Fall is in the air in the mornings here. It still gets to 75 degrees in the afternoon, but the mornings have that crisp clean feel to them and for the first time in a long time I am completely in love with it. As a kid, I of course loved it because it meant snow, which meant snow days. As an adult, I of course didn't love it because it meant waking up earlier to make it to work on time, shoveling the walk way, and leaving behind peemarks from my dog in the snow that everyone hates. This year? I'm excited.
I'm excited to take Roxanne on walks at night and not see a single soul around. I love going a couple of blocks from our house to the old train yard with Vince and just letting Roxi run wild while being held by my love. She thoroughly loves the snow, probably more than the sun in summertime, and it is so adorable to watch. She'll put her head down to the ground and hold it there as she runs, piling up snow like a plow, and she'll eventually get to the point where she stops because she is so buried in snow that she can't push anymore.
I'm excited to have Vince learn something new. I'm definitely the book-smart person in our relationship, but everything else in this world? Vince can pick up instantly. It's amazing to see how fast he learns stuff and how incredibly fearless he is. (Well, when I tell him he's fearless he just says he knows his limits, which happen to be waaaaay above mine.) This year he is going to learn how to ski. That is all he has been talking about for the past couple months and it's going to be fun to watch him and see how quickly he excels.
I'm excited to sit on my couch with the heater blasting and working on projects. I'm already starting to figure out what I want to do for Christmas presents, and I want them all to be handmade...which means I need to start now. It's one of my favorite things to have it be snowing outside with the windows all fogged up and an orange glow coming in my house while I am sitting all cozied up working on something with a good show on or some music. Winter is the time of year when I don't have to feel guilty for staying cooped up in the house because Vince can't tell me I'm missing a nice day outside!
Lastly, I'm excited to wear new comfy clothes. I've never been a boots/leggings/skirt person aside from a few times last winter, but this year I'm going to give it a go. I got some sweet cheap boots from Ross this weekend and I am so excited about them! Until now I have yet to find a pair of boots that go high enough up my long legs to make it look like they fit me that aren't high heels because Hello, I don't need to be taller than my six foot. I'm ready to wear cute dresses and leggings and look all cozy like some girls do!
Granted, I'm still not ready for the actual snow, but there's nothing I can do about that. Are you guys excited for the winter that is about to be upon us?
I am now! This post just made me super excited for winter lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing so many handmade Christmas items this year (now that I can knit) and it's so exciting! Now I feel kind of cheap when I buy things for someone lol.
This post also got me excited for it too! Although, I went for a walk this morning, and it was feeling so cool! I was also thinking about the approach of fall, but then I realized that even though it felt cool, I was perfectly comfortable in my shorts and T-shirt. So it's going to be a while for us here.
ReplyDeleteI love your description of sitting inside with a project. I can't wait for it myself! And Roxie is so cute!
Ya, that's how I feel too Sara!
ReplyDeleteDoes is snow much in Pahrump? And it's supposed to snow Friday and Saturday, so the shorts will be going away soon!
