New Things

I got a tea pot with some blooming tea for Christmas and I love it, as does Vince.

I scored majorly at the thrift store and got some cute new boots, snow boots, and a sweater. All $5 each.

I also got a new glass dish that will be the perfect size for the banana custard that I make a million times a month.

Because of all my new things, I've been getting rid of a lot of other things. My old snow boots (which are really rain boots like my new snow boots but work better than any snow boot I've ever owned) have a huge whole in them so I'm finally able to toss them, I had plenty of clothes that I never wore that I happily gave away(over 40 items!), and I still have to decide which two sweaters I'm going to get rid of to make room for my new one. Most of my sweaters are girly ones that are too small for my torso and arms, so I'm happy to give those away as well.

I've been becoming more of a minimalist over time, especially after reading inspiring blogs like Becoming Minimalist, and I'm hoping to get rid of more and more stuff. My house always feels clean, even when it's not, because there's not so much stuff everywhere!

Anything new and exciting lately? Or have you been getting rid of anything?

  1. Holy cow, that blooming tea is incredible! Wow!

I love getting rid of things I don't use or wear any more, it's so good to purge.

Also, yay for thrift store goodies!

  2. I've never even heard of blooming tea before but that's so cool! What does it taste like?
Do your feet stay warm enough using rain boots as snow boots? I've always thought that was such a great idea but I already have good snow boots so I haven't gotten any rain boots.
I am so happy for you, getting rid of stuff as you bring it in! I am not always very good at that, but I definitely feel best when I keep up with it too!!
And I still need to try that banana custard!

    1. It tastes just like regular tea! they make all kinds, like green tea, black tea, fruit teas, etc. It's just prettier than a tea bag.

My feet are SO much warmer when I wear rain boots! I buy them big enough so I can wear thick socks and it works great. Also, none of the snow boots I've had in the past have ever been waterproof, just water resistant, and they would take forever to dry if I got them wet. These I don't have to worry about drying.

I'm definitely working on getting rid of stuff as I get new stuff! It's been hard, but the more I give away, the more I WANT to give away. It's weird haha

Ohhh, try the custard! It's so amazing.

    2. Yeah, my boots usually stay dry because the bottom parts are like rain boots... but once they DO get wet, it's a nightmare!

Do you find yourself buying a lot more bananas now that you're paleo? I have noticed that a lot of the grainless desserts I find use bananas as a base. Luckily they're the cheapest fruit!! =]

    3. Yes, I buy so many bananas! And the nice thing is that I don't HAVE to buy them organic since they have the thick peel! But, I can honestly say organic bananas taste so much better, though, so when they are on sale I stock up, especially since most of my recipes are good for bruised bananas!

    4. Oh that's true, bananas are in the clean 15! But yes, they definitely do taste better organic to me too.
And I know, that makes me so happy because normally I'd have to buy bananas every few days to keep them from browning but now I just buy them whenever and usually have to go buy more!

  3. Weird question, but is that blooming tea Peach Momotaro? It looks exactly like the blooming sample we had at work... I've been trying too clean out my closet too. Having a bunch of stuff on hand that I don't need anymore kinda just drags everything down.

    1. Nope, it's Primula green tea! That peach one sounds pretty tasty for summer, though!

Yay for getting rid of stuff!

  4. Blooming tea?! How have I never heard of this before?? It's beautiful! What a great gift idea.

Also, love your thrift store finds. Thrifting is so much fun!

We've been trying to purge lately as well. Our problem isn't so much picking out things to get rid of, rather actually getting rid of them. We have a hamper full of clothes for Goodwill. And, it just sits. And, sits. For months now. Perhaps this weekend we can actually run it to the store. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

    1. Right?! So fun and pretty!

I find that that's my biggest problem as well. Especially when I'm teetering on giving something away because I find myself taking it out of the bag again! The way it's easiest for me to get rid of everything and get it out of my house it to just put it in my car. Then I notice it when I go grocery shopping or something and swing by Salvation Army!

    1. I was so excited when I saw those boots! I was like, 'Vince, I never find good things like this at thrift stores. Like never. I can't believe this is happening.' So funny.

The tea is Primula green tea. You can find blooming tea pretty much everywhere, though! I really like ordering tea through Teavana, and they have a bunch of blooming tea.

  6. uhhhh so that blooming tea looks AMAZING what the hell!!! Does it taste different/better/worse than regular tea? I NEED IT.

The thrift stores in Sweden are really great, but they don't have clothes in my size. That's what I get for being a stocky curvy female in a country of tall willowy elves. :'(

    1. It's tastes so much better! It has a 'fuller' flavor, and tastes a little...sweeter? Typically green tea in a tea bag/loose leaf gets bitter super easily and I like to add a little honey to counteract that, but with the blooming I don't need to add any sweetener. It's very smooth.

I didn't realize swedes were mostly tall! I can't find anything here because I'm too tall haha
